Dennis Menendez gets another nice 6-pointer, but it took Odie's nose to track the deceased animal. - Angelo San Fratello, Falling Creek Outfitters

"Demand is the death knell of friendship." This sentence in a book that I am reading catches my deeper attention. I want to think about that. With elbows on desk and head in hands, I focus in on the statement. Moments later, a couple of sharp, loud barks sound to the left of my chair. Viljo. While I am considering demand vs friendship, is my friend V "demanding" dinner? Bright smiling eyes and a thump of hairy tail say otherwise. Nope, this is just a friendly reminder!
18 months old Tranevang's MA Tashatax, born in Denmark and living in Louisiana, is already a very talented deer tracker. I very much look forward to meeting her when our paths cross, Cliff! Tasha goes out on track number 25 tonight. To make it just a little bit better it was for a good friend of mine. This was the first deer that he shot off his new property. I was very happy to be part of it. - Cliff Shrader Viljo is funny. I had leftover chili for lunch, in the same plastic container that it had been stored in. After eating, I sometimes put the container (now trash) down for the dogs to lick. I have learned to keep my hand on it so all the dogs can get some. And all four do, very nicely. The split second I take my hand away in these situations, Viljo picks the thing up and walks away from the others as if I had handed it to specifically to him. His royal majesty.
This was Olive's first field trial on jack rabbits [hare], and Asti's first in many years. We went to give Bossa a chance to work jacks. Sadly, the Golden Gate Dachshund Club moved from the ampitheater setting of Lagoon Valley park to the flat lands of Centennial Park just east on the 80. Bossa didn't get a chance to see a jack before running her brace, and seemed more interested in the tilled earth than the hare that had just been flushed. I took her out again later, and held her in my arms as the gallery beat. Eventually she saw a jack rabbit crossing the field, and then another and another - she had learned to look in the direction of the "tally ho." The judges were profligate with the rabbits - only taking ones they saw. So when a rabbit broke in front of us and Bossa saw it run toward the road, I waited a while and then let her work the line. On that front, the weekend was a success. Thank you so much for the write-up and I like the picture a lot! Congratulations! I look forward to hearing about DCA next month.
Strangely enough, I am not as disappointed as I thought I would be. Certainly, it would have been great to win tonight. But a two year record of 24 wins and one loss is great in my book! An astounding number of people have been rushing in for months, attempting to minimize Ohio State's achievements. Well, a lot of people are in to mocking anything good these days.
I have so enjoyed Buckeye football this year! GOOD GOING GUYS! Congratulations on the personal, school, and conference records set this year!!! I made an accidental discovery and thought I'd share this. I had not yet bought any floor mats for my newer CRV and wanted to put something down before I went to the field trials in October. I'd rummaged through a basket of dog towels and blankets and come up with one of those small fuzzy little 'shag' rugs that are made for bathrooms. I decided to use it until I got something else. It works so well that I continue to use it and got another one for the other side when I was at Walmart yesterday. The smaller size (something like 24 x 30) is just right for my vehicle. They are very absorbent, soft and flexible, have a non-skid rubberized, waterproof backing, and wash and dry so nicely. They don't cost an arm and a leg. And they come in a variety of colors!
Something of another tall tale featured on Facebook!
"My faith in Internet stories has been restored. Finally, some honesty in big buck hunting stories. Below is a picture of the new world record whitetail buck. It was taken by the cousin of a co-worker's sister's uncle's best friend's son-in-law's niece's hairdresser's neighbor's ex-boyfriend's oldest nephew. Reportedly it will score 2603-1/8 by B&C standard and was shot in West Texas on a really windy day, 85 degrees downhill, around a curve at 900 yards with a .22 cal. rifle." haha! I like the Dog Food Advisor web site and have recommended it to a lot of people. Including co-workers and even folks looking at dog food in pet supply stores and Walmart. I also tell them that if the choices seem bewildering, a quick easy way to get some notion of quality is to look at the first two ingredients. If the first two ingredients - three is even better - are meat and/or meat meal from identified sources of meat, it is likely that they are looking at one of the better kibbles available there. There's more to it than that, of course, but it is a great place to start. Interestingly, the big chain pet supply store in town carries virtually none of the better foods. Thankfully, the little mom and pop shop does.
