Born March 9, 1971
Breeder James L Bridges Owner Emma Nance Dana was bought sight-unseen at nine months of age from a small classified ad in an American Dachshund magazine. She came from a kennel in Texas that had had recessive longhairs (starting with Dana's maternal grandfather) but wanted to concentrate on their smooths again. At the Midwest Dachshund Club specialty in August 1972, Dana, handled by Emma, was Winners Bitch for 5 points and Best of Winners under Wilfred Boyer. The following day at the all-breed show, she was Winners Bitch for 4 points and Best of Winners again under judge Peter Monks to finish! It was these same shows in Michigan that Bjorn was brought to by a friend of his owner so that my mother could see him. Bjorn, nearly two, had finished his Champion title that summer and his breeder/owner wanted to sell him. My mother fell in love with Bjorn and we brought him home. Ever after that, we liked to talk about how we went to Michigan with no Champions and came home with two. Our first two! Dana was the mother of the Dorndorf A & C litters. The three puppies shown out of those two litters all finished and easily. It was the beginning of the Dorndorf breeding program. |
