May 2009
North American Teckel Club 2009 Spring Seminar, Hunting Tests, and Show were held in Rockaway, New Jersey, May 28-31. There, I saw zwerg longhair teckel breeder Alexandra Weber of Reinholds, Pennsylvania show several dogs of her breeding. Alexandra won Best Longhair with a different dog but it is the dog she is showing in the picture that instantly caught my eye.
I managed to capture something of his sound, efficient movement as they went around and around the ring in which Mme Agnes de France, President of the French Dachshund Club, officiated. Unfortunately, this dog is too big to be a zwergteckel and, with parents that are much smaller than he is, does not have the parentage or pedigree to produce standard dachshunds. However, if I bred more often and had just the right - large - bitch, I could be tempted to apply to breed to a dog like this.
