In late 2006 the Dachshund Club of America made the AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) designation a  mandatory requirement for its Versatility Certificate. In my view, and I am by no means alone, this was an ill-advised and illogical decision. As long as this requirement remains, I, co-founder of the DCA Versatility Certificate Program in the early 1980s, will not be participating in it.
