February 2009
As shadows lengthen on a beautiful day in North Carolina, Sian Kwa starts for the fox den with one of her young smooth bitches. Accompanying them is judge Stefan Füss of Darmstadt, Germany. This first North American den test on fox was a main event of the F3 Hunting Dog Workshop held February 20-22, 2009.
The workshop was hosted by Sian, her husband Matt, and Hal & Donna Schafer. Approximately 30 dachshunds and terriers participated in the fox test and five of them passed. They were a smooth fox terrier, wire dachs Nix owned by Larry Gohlke of Wisconsin, wire dachs Jerry Lee owned by Jean Dieden of Washington, and long dachs Nexus and Owl owned by yours truly of Ohio. Some of the young dogs will pass next year. Many thanks and appreciation for a wonderful workshop.
