Thank you, Marie Gadolin - kennel Hound's, for sending me Kasi and his old Scandinavian bloodlines when I needed him most!
ps Kasi is in Teo's pedigree as he is a great-grandfather.
This was SUvCh NUvCh SVCh FC Hound's Kashmir who died at age 14.5, quite apparently in his sleep, three years ago while I was at work. Kasi fathered just two litters before leaving Sweden at the age of five but he is in many, many pedigrees of dachshunds around the world. And he was the father of just one litter after he came to the States, but that litter of seven, my O litter, consisted of seven very talented and highly accomplished dogs.

Marta's second and last litter was born 10 years ago today. Father was Swedish import SUvCH NUvCH SvCH FC Hound’s Kashmir. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
I posted this on Facebook for 'throwback Thursday.' Marta's second (and last) litter was by the Swedish import Hound's Kashmir who was out of venerable old hunting lines. Four males and three females were born in June of 2004. It was my O litter and I was working on coming up with O names. These were days before my photography went digital, so I had to wait to see photos. When I got this batch, I studied one particular photo of the four males together. The expression of one pup caught my eye. I said, hmmm, he looks like a wise little owl. Which is true to this day. I'm pretty sure you will know which one I am talking about. Dennis Menendez gets another nice 6-pointer, but it took Odie's nose to track the deceased animal. - Angelo San Fratello, Falling Creek Outfitters It's 17 hours since the buck was shot. It's 10:45 AM. Odie hits the cold trail. He sniffs here and he sniffs there, just like he always does. Alecia says 'Odie, let's go this way.' After 30 minutes of cold tracking Odie begins pulling his leash harder and harder. Odie then begins barking. Something is getting ready to happen. The buck jumps. He crosses a field, then a highway, then a cotton field, then another highway and into a thicket. Stan, Alecia and Odie catch up with the deer. Angelo is back yonder somewhere. Odie jumps the buck again. The deer is worn out and eventually Stan puts the buck down. Look at Stan and Angelo. This is why it is important to make a good shot the first time. Odie is a tracking wonder dog. There is not a dog any better anywhere in the world. - Angelo San Fratello, Falling Creek Outfitters, NC Congratulations to Stan (t-shirt) & Alecia Wenner and their 9 year old longhaired dachshund Axel Odin von Dorndorf.
GREAT JOB! Stan Wenner harvested this great 8-pointer however, Odie found it as there was no blood trail for Stan to follow. The 8-pointer came in at 191 lbs.
[Odie is Axel Odin von Dorndorf, a talented deer tracker for Stan and Alecia Wenner in North Carolina.]
Today, Alecia sent me this photo of "Odie's last buck for 2012" which is a nice nine-pointer. Alecia and Odie are pictured with Angelo San Fratello, owner of Falling Creek Outfitters in Mount Olive, NC. Big congratulations on a great year of tracking! [Odie is Axel Odin von Dorndorf, 8 years, owned by Stan and Alecia Wenner, North Carolina.] Here are some highlights from 2012! Angelo San Fratello, owner of Falling Creek Outfitters in Mount Olive, North Carolina: I took this 8-pointer on a clear cut. Odie the magnificent trail dog tracked the buck for 1.5 hours Saturday night. The buck kept getting up and running. On Sunday morning, Alecia and Bruce assisted Odie and they found the buck. The coyotes had eaten the hindquarters. Alecia took this 160 lb. 8-pointer on a morning hunt. Dennis A. shot this 8-pointer on an evening hunt. Quite often a deer will not leave a blood trail. So Odie went to work on a cold trail. Odie started sniffing around 7:30 PM. Odie spotted the deer still alive around 9:30 PM. The deer was shot two more times before it expired. Out of the woods we all came around 10:15 PM, cold, wet, and tired. Stan took this nice 8-pointer on the Joyner Farm during an evening hunt. His four-legged son Odie had to help track the buck. Brady M. takes his first buck, a beautiful 6-pointer with a 12-inch spread, 135 lbs. on a Saturday evening hunt. Odie "the magnificent trail dog" helped Brady retrieve his buck. Many thanks to Alecia and Angelo for the photos. I really appreciate having them. I am very proud and pleased with the mighty great tracking work that Odin is doing!
Big Congratulations to all of you! [Odin is Axel Odin von Dorndorf, owned by Stan & Alecia Wenner, North Carolina.}
Received this really nice photo from Alecia tonight. It is Odin, who is brother of Owl and their five accomplished littermates. Odie tracks deer for Stan & Alecia in North Carolina. Alecia wrote in a previous email, "I was telling folks how all Odie’s siblings have at least a FC by their name. We could add a MTD by Odie’s. When you view this site you will see 'Odie, the Magnificent Trail Dog.' He has fans..." Alecia was referring to the website of Falling Creek Outfitters. Odin has tracked and located more than a few deer for them. Thank you, Alecia and continued success with Odie! Dual-registered with AKC and the DTK and born on this date in 2004, the litter of seven by SUvCH NUvCH SvCH FC Hound’s Kashmir (Sweden) x FC Marta v Dorndorf L JE LH is the most accomplished litter I have ever bred. Happy Birthday to Owl, Otter, Oslo, Odin, Ochre, Asti, and Olive! Laura Knoll has been Ochre's owner and handler since Ochre was nine months old and Laura was seven. All the accomplishments, awards, and titles are really great, but Laura's relationship with Ochre and their amazing teamwork is the breath of life for breeders like me. Here is what dear Laura posted on Facebook: "My baby girl turned eight years old! She has been such a blessing in my life and I thank God, her breeder, and my parents for allowing us to be so successful in our seven years of running together! She became a Field Champion at about two years old and has led me to winning five Absolutes, with one being the National Absolute in 2008. [I've made a link to a good article on the AKC website.] And two tracking titles; Tracking Dog and Tracking Dog Excellent. Ochre has taught me so many things about field trials and has let me travel all over the States. She is one of the best things that has happened to me! Happy Birthday Ochre and your litter mates!!!"
Axel Odin von Dorndorf, six years old, is family companion and deer tracker for Stan & Alecia Wenner in North Carolina. Alecia sent me new photos of Odin today. I have included them (the bottom two) on a new photo page featuring Odin. Alecia, thank you!
