This was SUvCh NUvCh SVCh FC Hound's Kashmir who died at age 14.5, quite apparently in his sleep, three years ago while I was at work. Kasi fathered just two litters before leaving Sweden at the age of five but he is in many, many pedigrees of dachshunds around the world. And he was the father of just one litter after he came to the States, but that litter of seven, my O litter, consisted of seven very talented and highly accomplished dogs.
Thank you, Marie Gadolin - kennel Hound's, for sending me Kasi and his old Scandinavian bloodlines when I needed him most! ps Kasi is in Teo's pedigree as he is a great-grandfather. Marta's second and last litter was born 10 years ago today. Father was Swedish import SUvCH NUvCH SvCH FC Hound’s Kashmir. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!
In the Madison Area Dachshund Club class of 18 Field Champion Dogs, three of the five ribbons went to Nexus, Oslo, and Owl!
I am proud of all of them but especially 12 year old Nexus. On an 85 degree afternoon, the warmest day we've had in months, Nexus put forth great effort had some excellent runs! I did not run Nexus and Owl on Friday or Saturday because I wanted to concentrate on my youngsters Taya (on Friday), and Viljo (Friday and Saturday.) I think the older dogs were telling me, to heck with this sitting in the car business, we want to run rabbits! At the same trial where Taya was 1st of 17 Open Bitches, Oslo was 2nd of 15 Field Champion Dogs!
Here is Oslo receiving his award and singing! Not howling, that's Stan, but Oslo has a beautiful voice. haha! I think we are singing Happy Birthday to Linda Snyder. Congratulations to Stan Knoll and Oslo!! Stan Knoll and Oslo bested an entry of 59 dachshunds in Kirbyville, Texas. They are pictured with Absolute judges Ashley Dumas (left) and Sandi Myers. Super proud of Daddy and Oslo today! Called back second in a class of 15 Field Champion Dogs, Oslo won the class, then went on to win his 14th Absolute! Thanks to the judges and all the people who put on the trial. It was a great weekend! - Laura Knoll, MS In the class of 8 Field Champion Bitches, Oslo's daughter Seiko had the second best run in 1st series, was High after 2nd series, then finished in second place. Super Seiko was handled by her owner Laura Knoll.
Congratulations to Stan & Oslo, and Laura & Seiko!! I posted this on Facebook for 'throwback Thursday.' Marta's second (and last) litter was by the Swedish import Hound's Kashmir who was out of venerable old hunting lines. Four males and three females were born in June of 2004. It was my O litter and I was working on coming up with O names. These were days before my photography went digital, so I had to wait to see photos. When I got this batch, I studied one particular photo of the four males together. The expression of one pup caught my eye. I said, hmmm, he looks like a wise little owl. Which is true to this day. I'm pretty sure you will know which one I am talking about. Seiko was called back High and Won the Field Champion Bitches class of 9 this morning.
Her father Oslo was called back second and Won the class of 11 Field Champion Dogs this afternoon. This was at the Mission City Dachshund Club field trial in Kirbyville, Texas. Seiko is owned by Tina Knoll, and Oslo by Stan Knoll who handled both dogs today. So in the run-offs for Absolute, guess who was Best Field Champion. Oslo's little girl Seiko! At this trial then, Seiko was braced with and defeated the top Field Champion of 2013 (Linda Snyder's Hopi), the top Field Champion of all time (Cheri Faust's Danika), and the top Longhaired & number 5 Field Champion of all time (Stan Knoll's Oslo)! Talk about an excellent day! Congratulations to the Knoll Family! I hope to get a photo or two to add to this post! In a previous post, I congratulated Marvelous Mieka and Super Seiko on their accomplishments this weekend in Georgia. It is about time I mention Outstanding Oslo!
Oslo was called back 2nd and Won the class of 22 Field Champion Dogs on Saturday! Oslo was called back 4th and Won the class of 20 Field Champion Dogs on Sunday! ABS13 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf, 9 years old, is owned by Stan Knoll of Mississippi. Devotion between these two being mutual, complete, and pretty well known, I should say that it almost didn't happen. The Stan-and-Oslo-team first took oxygen when baby Oslo's prospective home with a deer hunter in Louisiana fell through. It further developed upon the death of Stan's young bitch Anika. And it was born in a light bulb moment in the shower in Poplarville, Mississippi in 2005. I'm not sure that Stan had dried off yet when he phoned me and said that he wanted Oslo. A couple of months later, Oslo left Ohio for the second time and he wasn't coming back. Stan phoned this past Sunday evening on the drive home from Georgia. He said he believes that Oslo has moved into the Number Five spot among the top trial competitors on the All-Time list of DCA field trial merit points. Wonderful! But Five, Six, or pick up sticks, the boys from southern Miss have done their little fan club proud! Congratulations to Stan & Oslo! I didn't actually have much to do with it, but I sure am glad that you two teamed up! Oslo and Seiko were back 1st and 2nd and finished 1st and 2nd in the combined Field Champion class of 18 dachshunds in St Louis. How do you like that!
Oslo is owned by Stan Knoll and Seiko's owner is Tina Knoll. Both were handled today by Stan. Double congratulations to the Knolls! At the Great Lakes Dachshund Club field trial where Nutmeg Won Open Bitches (see next post), Seiko was also 2nd of 13 Field Champion Bitches and Oslo was NBQ of 14 Field Champion Dogs!
Seiko is owned by Tina Knoll and Laura Knoll and was handled by Laura. Oslo is owned and handled by Stan Knoll. Congratulations! Oslo topped the class of 21 Field Champion Dogs at the Badger field trial today! It was the inaugural trial of the 2013 Harvest Moon Classic in Roscoe, Illinois.
Congratulations to Stan Knoll and Oslo! [Oslo is ABS12 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf CA CG, owned by Stan Knoll of Mississippi.]
Called back 3rd, Oslo went on to win the class of 13 male Field Champions at the Buckeye Dachshund Club field trial. Later in the day, Oslo was Best Field Champion, then became Absolute Winner (Best in Trial) in the entry of 47 dachshunds competing on the grounds of the Hilltop Beagle Club in Cowansville, Pennsylvania! This was Absolute Winner award number 12 for Oslo. Few dachshunds have won this many; the only longhair with more Absolutes is Oslo's maternal grandmother FC Ilsa v Dorndorf L who had 15. A big congratulations to Stan and Oslo! Way to go! [Nexus is ABS6 DC Nexus v Dorndorf L CD TD JE RN NA VC Wa-T BHP-G LH, 11 years, owner Patricia Nance.]
[Oslo is ABS11 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf CA CGC, 8.5 years, owner Stan Knoll.] Nexus and Oslo placed 2nd and 3rd in the Field Champion Dog class of 17 at the Dachshund Club of the Great Lakes today. The trial was held at the Northern Illinois Beagle Club in Roscoe, Illinois. Congratulations to Nexus and Oslo! They are pictured with judges Bill Dyer and Pam Bethke. When the class judging ended after fourth series, our dogs had finished Oslo 1st, Owl 2nd, and Nexus 3rd. Furthermore, one of the judges kindly told me that Viljo had had the 6th best score in the class. There is no recognition for 6th but I am proud of Viljo, too. Later, Oslo capped the day off by becoming Absolute Winner in a total entry of 75 dachshunds. It is the 11th time that Oslo has won the Absolute Winner award. Not many dachshunds have won 11 or more Absolutes! I will find out how many have done it. Congratulations to Stan and Oslo and to Owl and Nexus! And Viljo! [Owl is ABS5 FC Alpine Owl von Dorndorf TD JE NA OAJ SchwhK SchwhKF Wa-T BHP-G LH, owned by Patricia Nance.]
[Oslo is ABS10 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf CA CGC, owned by Stan Knoll.] Owl was called back High and won the class of 17 Field Champion Dogs ("Dogs" here refers to males) at the Dachshund Club of Metropolitan Atlanta. His brother Oslo was NBQ ("Next Best Qualified" after 1st-4th Places) in the same class. The trials this weekend are being held at the Flint River Beagle Club in Hampton, Georgia. Today's trial was the first dachshund field trial held at Flint River and we are finding them to be excellent running grounds. Congratulations to Owl (pictured) and Oslo! [Oslo is ABS10 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf CA CGC, owned by Stan Knoll of Mississippi.]
[Babe is ABS3 Bob's Babe von Knobydox, owned by Tina Knoll of Mississippi.] At the field trial of the Mission City Dachshund Club of San Antonio held in Kirbyville, Texas today, Oslo was back High and finished 2nd of 9 Field Champion Dogs. Oslo was handled by his owner Stan Knoll. And Babe was NBQ of 12 Field Champion Bitches, handled by Laura Knoll for owner Tina Knoll. Congratulations to all of you! Following are the Dachshund Club of America's Top Ten in Field for 2012. Congratulations to Stan Knoll and Oslo and everyone! It takes a lot of talent and dedication - as one top obedience campaigner wrote years ago: much willingness to sit for hours and hours on your butt, staring at the road through a windshield - to make it to this level! Nevertheless, Owl had two nice placements for 48 points and Nexus two placements for 40 points. Merit points are earned one point per dog defeated in the Field Champion class. For example, in a class of 17 Field Champions 1st place nets 17 merit points, 2nd place 16 points, 3rd place 15 points and 4th place 14 points. Besides that, a dog must have at least two placements in the Field Champion class to make it onto the merit points list, he cannot have just one. In 2012, 81 dachshunds earned two or more placements in the Field Champion class. I have only listed the Top 10. Thank you to Tracy Freeling, DCA Field Trial Statistician, for receiving and compiling the numbers. Stan Knoll and Oslo after a day in the field in 2008. I am using this photo because, while it would obviously be difficult for a dachshund to be joined with his person at the hip, here is proof that it is entirely possible for them to be joined at the knee! Today, Oslo was again called back High in the Field Champion Dog class, again Won the class, and again was Absolute Winner! There were 18 FC Dogs and a total entry of 89! So Oslo has ended the year beautifully. He has once again finished in the DCA Top 10. He is the most winning longhaired dachshund in the field in 2012. He is the most winning longhaired dachshund ever! AND, he has now joined the very small number of dachshunds who have won Absolute twice in one weekend. One of that group is his grandmother ABS15 FC Ilsa v Dorndorf L. Congratulations to Stan and Oslo!! You guys ROCK!
Called back High in the Field Champion Dog class of 19 in Kirbyville, Texas today, Oslo won the class and later became Absolute Winner of 98 dachshunds! This is the 9th time Oslo has been Absolute Winner (or Best in Trial)!
Wow! Congratulations to Stan and Oslo! At the Dallas-Ft Worth Dachshund Club's field trial, Oslo was called back High and Won the class of 28 Field Champions. Later in the day, Oslo was Absolute Winner in a total trial entry of 57 dachshunds. This is Oslo's 8th Absolute award! A Big Congratulations to Stan and Oslo!!
[Oslo is ABS7 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf CA CGC, owned by Stan Knoll, Mississippi.]
Handled by his owner, Oslo was 3rd in the Field Champion Dog class at the Buckeye Dachshund Club field trial today. The trial was held on the grounds of the Hilltop Beagle Club in Cowansville, Pennsylvania. Congratulations to Stan and Oslo! [Oslo is ABS7 FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf L CA CGC, owned by Stan Knoll, Mississippi.] In March 2005, when Oslo was nine months old, the Knolls transported him south for me. Oslo was to go to a hunter in Louisiana. The new ownership fell through via telephone, however, due to unforeseen complexities regarding the man's family. Oslo stayed with the Knolls for three months and I got him back in June.
In October 2005, after the tragic death of Stan's year old bitch Annika, Stan was looking for another dog for himself. He'd liked Oslo when they had him, and Oslo liked Stan. One morning Stan called me after having an epiphany in the shower and asked if he could have Oslo. Oslo returned to the Knoll household and he and Stan have been inseparable ever since. Oslo is the only dog I have ever raised for a year or longer who ignores me when he sees me! As Tina says, there is only one human living in Oslo's universe. In May 2008, I took this photo of Stan with Oslo at the Badger Dachshund Club field trial in Illinois. Oslo was nearly four years old and had become a solid, hard-hitting, top winning field trial competitor with an excellent voice on game. In May 2012, Oslo became a member of the small "high-class" class of dachshunds who have defeated 1000 Field Champions in competition. The same month, Oslo surpassed his maternal grandmother Ilsa's lifetime merit point total and became the most winning standard longhaired Field Champion in DCA/AKC history. As we edge nearer the end of the year, I am blogging this post as tribute and congratulations to a marvelous team, their remarkable relationship, and their superb successes! Stan and Laura Knoll just called with more excellent news coming out of Illinois this week. FC Audi Oslo von Dorndorf was back High and Won the combined-sex Field Champion class of 37!
Seiko v Dorndorf L TD, in her very first field trial, was back 8th and finished 4th in the class of 38 Open Bitches! There were 100 dachshunds entered in this field trial. Congratulations! I will see you at roll call on Sunday. : ) Dual-registered with AKC and the DTK and born on this date in 2004, the litter of seven by SUvCH NUvCH SvCH FC Hound’s Kashmir (Sweden) x FC Marta v Dorndorf L JE LH is the most accomplished litter I have ever bred. Happy Birthday to Owl, Otter, Oslo, Odin, Ochre, Asti, and Olive! Laura Knoll has been Ochre's owner and handler since Ochre was nine months old and Laura was seven. All the accomplishments, awards, and titles are really great, but Laura's relationship with Ochre and their amazing teamwork is the breath of life for breeders like me. Here is what dear Laura posted on Facebook: "My baby girl turned eight years old! She has been such a blessing in my life and I thank God, her breeder, and my parents for allowing us to be so successful in our seven years of running together! She became a Field Champion at about two years old and has led me to winning five Absolutes, with one being the National Absolute in 2008. [I've made a link to a good article on the AKC website.] And two tracking titles; Tracking Dog and Tracking Dog Excellent. Ochre has taught me so many things about field trials and has let me travel all over the States. She is one of the best things that has happened to me! Happy Birthday Ochre and your litter mates!!!"
