Svante is father of Viljo. Another recovered deer for Svante! It was quick job in freezing weather, -17 degrees. But luckily it was a good shot and deer was close so we did not freeze. It was hunter's first deer so he was so happy Svante found it. - Tia Eskelinen, Finland Congratulations to all of you!
[-17 Celsius = 1 degree Fahrenheit] Svante recovered a wounded deer today. It was hit by a car yesterday and we followed it 4,5 km [2 miles] and 1,5 hours. My super boy. Now we are wet and tired and happy and both of us will be in sauna very soon. - Tia Eskelinen, Finland Congratulations, Tia and Svante!
What a beautiful photo! 5.5 years old, Svante, father of Viljo, was recently Helsinki Winner 2013. Some of his other accomplishments include: Finland's 2011 Longhaired dachshund of the year, show Champion in six countries, tracking Champion in Sweden, and successful in the blood tracking recovery of moose and deer.
Svante is owned and handled by Tia Eskelinen of Finland. His breeder is Marina Nilsson of Red Top's dachshunds in Sweden. Father to my Viljo, 5.5 year old "Svante" is owned and handled by Tia Eskelinen, Kennel Cadium, Finland. This win earned Svante the title Helsinki Winner 2013! Congratulations to Tia and Svante! Thank you, Tia, for sending the very nice photo today. Speaking of very nice photos, a wonderful album of Svante photos can be found on Tia's website. Ornberget's Jubilee (right) was Best Female and Best of Breed at this show. Owned and handled by Jill Rhodin of Sweden, this makes Jubilee also "Helsinki Winner 2013."
Incidentally, Jubilee is great-great granddaughter of Nick v Dorndorf L. Imported to Sweden by Marie Gadolin in 2002, he lives with Linda Mellberg. Nick produced just five litters, but he is in the pedigrees of many longhairs in that part of the world. At the prestigious Helsinki, Finland Winner show today, Viljo's father Multi-Champion Red Top's Klatjofs was Best Male, Helsinki Winner 2013! "Svante" is owned and shown by Tia Eskelinen of Finland. He was bred by Marina Nilsson of Sweden. Also pictured is Tia's young female Chodsky pes (a breed not known to me) from the Czech Republic. "Miiru" was also Helsinki Winner at this show. Patt, I do not like to be in photos but this photo I really wanted to have. My dogs has never won in Finnish Winner Shows and today my dogs received THREE Winner Titles Such a GREAT day! - Tia Eskelinen, Finland Congratulations to Tia &Jarkko, Svante, and Miiru!
[Svante is Multiple Champion Red Top's Klatjofs, Finland's standard longhaired dachshund of the year in 2011, also father of my Viljo. Svante is owned by Jarkko and Tia Eskelinen, Finland.] Tia writes: We have been tracking a deer, it had been hit by a car yesterday morning. We were tracking for two hours yesterday evening and went back this morning. It has been snowing the whole night and during this morning too, there was about 10cm fresh snow in the woods and it was quite hard for a dachshund. But Svante did it, he found deer still alive after two hours of tracking! Deer was young and its back leg was broken. Well done Svante! Well done, indeed, in four more inches of snow on top of what was already there!
Congratulations on a super and successful effort! [Svante is father of Viljo.] Multiple Champion Red Top's Klatjofs, owned by Tia Eskelinen, located this moose for hunters after an hour-long trek in Finland. Good going, Svante and Tia!
Multi CH Red Top's Klatjofs, father of my Viljo, was again awarded an Excellent rating, placed 3rd in Champion Class Males, and received Certificate Qualification at the Finnish Winner Show in Helsinki!
The dog that placed 1st in the class over Svante yesterday was not shown today. The dog that placed 2nd in the class yesterday was rated Excellent but unplaced today. A quick study of the results in this class from both days indicate that Svante was paws down the overall highest placed Champion Male in these two shows. Congratulations to Svante and his owner/handler Tia Eskelinen! Viljo's father Svante received the rating "Excellent" and placed 3rd in the Males Champion class with Certificate Qualification at the Helsinki Winner Show in Helsinki, Finland today! Congratulations to Tia Eskelinen and Svante!
Svante, 2 years old, is father of my new youngster Viljo. Svante's owner Tia Eskelinen of Finland tells us what happened. "A man called us at 6.30pm on Friday that he has shoot a deer but they can't find it. They have checked one area but it's already dark and they need help. We just took our flashlights (that you can keep on your head) and a dog and drove to that hunting cabin you saw. We met the hunters there and drove to the place where they found some blood. It was about 7pm. They showed me that here is some blood and that is the way the deer run and I showed that blood to dog and said nothing - and he started tracking! I was so excited that I didn't remember to say the word "jälki" what I always use when we start tracking. He did so well, all the time I knew that he is on line. He was full of energy but still calm, he tracked very carefully. Once he spend more time checking under trees (maybe deer has been lying there a while) and few times he smelled ground more carefully (maybe there was some more blood, I didn't see, it was so dark). I was checking the area all the time and then I saw it, deer was lying down on ground. I told shooter that goes to check that deer and very soon I let the dog go to see the deer. Svante has never seen deer before and first he looked that like thinking "oh no WHAT is that?!". Very soon he realised that it's not going to kill him and oh he was sooo proud! His ego filled the whole forest! After tracking we were so proud of Svante, his career couldn't start any better!" Good job, Svante, Tia and Jarkko! Here's to many more deer recovered! I found out when I was in Finland in August that the Finns imported whitetails from the States in something like the '40s. Today they have a very healthy whitetail population and whitetails are a favorite game animal. (But not more favorite than the moose!) |
