Taya at 10 weeks
And today is Taya's second birthday. She and her four sisters and one brother were born in Denmark at Kennel Tranevang. We are very grateful to their breeder Lise-Lotte Schulz. Many thanks, too, to Marie Gadolin who provided us with a number of photos and comments about each pupster. It was not easy, sitting here in Ohio, and trying to decide IF a puppy and WHICH puppy.

"Puppy" became "puppies" and half the litter is in the US. Taya is with me, Tasha is with Cliff Shrader and Cheryl in Louisiana, and Thor aka Seymour is with Derek Smith and Jennifer in Virginia. We are all VERY GLAD to have them!

Their sister Terra is at home with Lise-Lotte.

The photo is Taya, two weeks after coming to the States and a few minutes after a warm August tracking session. We walked to the pond for the first time and she, at 10 weeks of age, went right on in. It tells a lot about her nature.

Happy Birthday to the T litter!

longhaired dachshund loves to hunt ducks

After I posted the photo of Siiri yesterday, her owner Ilse Kokkonen sent this picture that I have not seen before. It was taken this past August during a duck hunt, which Siiri loves to do.

Sirri is paternal grandmother of the youngsters Taya, Tasha, and Thor, who also love to swim and are steady to gun. You can see photos of Taya's First Swim at age 10 weeks.

repeat litter planned in denmark

Lise-Lotte Schulz has written that she is planning to repeat the mating that produced her Terra, my Taya, Cliff's Tasha, and Derek's Thor. You can see more about the Tranevang T litter by clicking on their names under Categories in the sidebar.

If you desire a dachshund with excellent temperament, tracking ability, size, coat, and game voice you will want to consider a puppy from this litter.

Lise-Lotte's email address is at the end of this post.

And certainly you are welcome to contact me for more information about the T litter and my experiences with importing dogs from Scandinavia.

Taya in Ohio at nine weeks and already an international traveler.
I am expecting to mate Longhair standards in January or February.
The puppies will be "Born to track," FCI-standard, appr. 8-8,5 kg.
Sire: Multichampion Maxi-tax Maroon Marstax
Dam: WUTJCH Hound's American Dream (Sire: Nick von Dorndorf)
This will be the second litter of these parents. The first litter has shown their tracking quality (Tranevang's Tayatax and Tranevang's Tashatax).
They will have FCI show quality too..
If anyone is interested in such a puppy, please take contact:

Thor, called Seymour, is Tranevang's MA Thortax, 6 months, brother of Taya.

Hey Patt,  still very tied up with school and life here.  I wanted to just drop you a line and let you know that Seymour is doing great. We love him very much.  Now that the semester is over, or nearly so, I will get a chance to do a little bit of hunting and he will get a chance to tag along, and hopefully get a real blood trail in. We still train, but not as much as I would like. Hope you are doing well.  - Derek Smith, VA
Thank you, Derek! I am well. And I am even better when I get photos like this one!

second day, second double Q for Olive

[Olive is FC MACH Autumn Olive von Dorndorf VCD1 TD CD RAE MXS MJB NF, owned by John Willmore and Diane Webb.]
I don't have the specifics for today's agility trial in Glen Allen, Virginia yet. But Olive qualified in both Excellent B classes again today and earned 44 MACH points for the weekend!

Double Congratulations to John, Diane, and Olive!

Not only that, but John and Diane met up with Derek and Jenn who own Taya and Tasha's brother Thor! Called Seymour, 5.5 months old, Diane described him as "a really nice little guy.  19 lbs, maybe just a tad overweight.  Very stable, happy, energetic. Derek and Jenn are very nice and they adore him. Nike (the big dog) is very cool too and they get along great. I think that Seymour probably takes after Ami more than Mars, except that he has Mars' eyes. We will send photos and video to you, maybe after we get home."

Thank you! I look forward to seeing and hearing more about Olive and Seymour from this weekend!

Eight-week-old littermates Taya (front) and Thor arrive from Kennel Tranevang in Denmark! They are doing great after their 12 hour flight! You can see much more about them and their parents, grandparents, etc on Taya's page. Taya will live in Ohio with me; Thor with Derek and Jennifer in Virginia. A third littermate, Tasha, will arrive in mid-August and live with Cliff and Cheryl in Louisiana. Many, MANY thanks to their breeder Lise-Lotte Schulz!
